1999 CIE-USA/GNYC Annual Convention was held at Newark Airport Marriott Hotel on November 13, 1999. The theme of this year's convention is : Technology Challenges and Business Opportunities of the New Millennium.

The 2-day BioTechnology 1999 Conference took place at Newark Airport Marriott Hotel on October 8-9, 1999. About 350 people attended this conference and it was a great success. CIE-USA is a co-organizer of this conference and Chiao Yeh has been representing CIE-USA/GNYC in the planning committee of this first conference on BioTechnology. Dr. Shih-Chien George Yang, Minister of State, Executive Yuan, Taiwan also attended this conference and has been a strong supporter of this conference.
The 8th annual Wireless and Optical Communications Conference (WOCC99) was held in Newark, NJ on April 16-17. The annual WOCC conference is jointly organized by CIE-USA, PSC (Photonics Society of Chinese American), CAST Chinese Association of Science and Technology), CAAPS (Chinese American Academic and Professional Society) and MJSTA (Monte Jade Science and Technology Association).
The two-day conference attracted more than 200 attendees from China, Taiwan and U.S. This years conference theme was "Next Generation Wireless and Optical Innovations for the New Era". Business, technical and regulatory issues related to IMT-2000 (next generation wireless systems), wireless IP networks, trend in RF component & technology and next generation optical communications systems and networks were among topics that were discussed and addressed.
