Dr. Tim Chen is
the General Manager of Shanghai Lucent Technologies Transmission
Equipment Co., Ltd, a Joint Venture of Lucent Technologies with
150 employees. During 2000, he was Marketing Director, China Market
Management, InterNetworking System, Lucent Technologies, Whippany,
NJ. In 1999 he was the Senior Manager of Global Partnerships. He
was Product Manager for China/AP markets in 1998. Dr. Tim C. S.
Chen joined Lucent Technologies Inc. in 1997 as Consulting Engineer.
While working at Lucent,
Dr. Chen is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Electrical
Engineering Department of the New York Institute of Technology.
His areas of expertise include Telecommunication Access Network,
Transport Network Management, surface/interface science, ceramic
processing, electronic materials, electron spectroscopy for chemical
analysis and structure composition analysis of industrial products.
His primary research interest is in the area of surface properties
of solid.
Prior to joining Lucent
Technologies, from May 1996 to March 1997, Dr. Chen served as Special
Assistant to the President of Polytechnic University.
Dr. Chen is very active
in a number of professional organizations including: Chinese Institute
of Engineers-USA, President/National Counsel/Panel Section Chair
2000, Member, Board Director 1997/2000-2002, Chair, Professional
Committee 1999, Chair, PR Committee 1996, Co-Chair, Student Development
Committee 1994, Member, Executive Committee 1994/95/96/99/00, for
which, he oversaw entire annul convention program, interfaced with
other society, attended national level counsel meeting, provided
news releases, arranged press conferences, organized convention,
retained speakers, called for paper and coordinated for professional
expertise's presentation program, etc.; Chinese American Academic
and Professional Society, Executive Committee/Program Chair/Executive
Secretary for 1997, Regional Organizer/Member, Executive Committee
1996, for which, he organized convention, retained speakers to provide
valuable insight into issues and business opportunities in Internet
Technology section and annul convention; Convention Chair for 1996
Internet Expo, contacted and retained 20 venders to participate;
Chief Executive Chair for 1995 Great Northeast Job Fair, planned
and coordinated job fair program, resulting in the participation
of over 60 companies and 3,000 people; PhiTauPhi Honor Society;
Materials Research Society; American Physics Society; American Vacuum
Society, etc.
Dr. Chen received both his
M.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Polytechnic
University in Brooklyn, New York in 1993 and 1995. He has published
a number of academic papers. Dr. Chen is married with three children.
