JOB CODE 10194: DIRECTOR, TAIWAN FIELD APPLICATIONS
 
SUMMARY
 
The Director, Taiwan Field Applications will be located in the Taiwan
Applications Center supporting wireless GSM, CDMA, and WLAN customers. The
individual will be reporting to the Senior Director, Worldwide Field
Applications. This individual will be responsible for the local management
and direction of the field applications engineering activities in Taiwan.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
This individual oversees employees engaged in the following activities and
also personally performs these duties. Other duties may be assigned.
 
* Support local customer needs for wireless PA's, RF switches, and Wireless
LAN.
* Provides presales and post sales technical support.
* Instrumental in securing design wins.
 
* Provide feedback to the business units on current and future products.
* Participate in future product roadmaps.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Supervises the activities of two to three applications/consulting employees
in the Taiwan marketplace.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
 
* Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with RF and microwave major
(complex modulation techniques).
* Minimum of 4 years experience in design/testing of wireless handsets.  GSM
experience a requirement.
* Hands on experience with RF network, spectrum analyzer, RF power meters.
* Good communication skills in English and Mandarin.
* Good computer skills.
* PA designs experience an asset.
* Exceptional communication skills and the ability to interact
cross-functionally, within all levels of the organization.
* Must be team-oriented.
* Must have at least three years experience in managing a technical team.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
 
Must be able to read, write and speak English. In addition, must have the
same fluency in Mandarin or local Taiwanese language.  Ability to read,
analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write
reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to
effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of
managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
 
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents,
logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply
mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution,
determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance,
correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
 
REASONING ABILITY
 
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical
 
instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract
and concrete variables.
